City Name: Buffalo
Geographic Size: 9.9 square miles
Population: 16,502 (2022)
School District: Buffalo Hanover Montrose Public School District

Things to do in Buffalo, MN
The Buffalo schools have much to be proud of. With 40 College in the Schools (CIS) classes, students have many opportunities to take college classes and earn college credits through tuition free partnership with seven area colleges and universities. They also have an award-winning music department, including band, choir, and orchestra, and have produced many all-state performers. The Buffalo sports teams compete in the Lake Conference, one of the premier leagues in the Upper Midwest. An outstanding theatre department helps students develop a wealth of skills and the program qualified for state competition last year. Mock Trial, Knowledge Bowl and other high-performing programs enable students to pursue a variety of interests as well.

Buffalo Days, the week-long community celebration hosts a variety of events for everyone to enjoy! Take in carnival rides with the kids, fireworks and the Grand Parade and be sure you meet the Buffalo Days Royalty. The event hosts one of the best parades in the area, boasting quality marching bands that march right through downtown. It's a showcase of the best of the city and something Buffalo takes pride in every year. Other attractions include a car show, orchestra in the park, a carnival, kiddie parade and Movie in the Park. This year's festivities run from June 9-16.

Buffalo is nestled between two beautiful lakes, Buffalo Lake and Lake Pulaski. Spending a day outdoors is a pleasure in the Buffalo area as residents and visitors have plenty of open spaces, miles of biking and walking trails and beautiful parks. A well-maintained park system exists on both lakes. Facilities include playground equipment, boat launching sites and boat rentals, swimming beaches, athletic fields, picnic areas and shelters.

Buffalo also has 2 golf courses. Come out and play the Wild Marsh Golf Club, located on the south side of Buffalo Lake. Wild Marsh is a stunning golf 18-hole course with bent-grass fairways, tees, fast greens, beautiful lakes, marshes, trees and rolling terrain. The clubhouse, overlooking Mink Lake, can accommodate your every need. From meetings to receptions, catering options are available to serve you and your guests. Also try out Buffalo Heights Golf Course which was established 75 years ago and remains a quality 9-hole course nestled in beautiful Buffalo on the south side of town on Highway 25.

Don't forget the food! Buffalo offers unique food venues for tastes of all kinds! Whether you like steak, walleye, a hearty burger, sushi, burritos, stir fry, Detroit style pizza or homemade soups and sandwiches, you can find it here! We recommend the Amore ice cream shop to start!

Looking for another fun way to explore beautiful Buffalo? Enjoy the Buffalo Roam tour! The Buffalo Championship Rodeo Association had businesses commission the creation and decoration of life-size buffalo statues in 2004. Since then, the herd has grown to 23 life-size statues that can be found in businesses, parks, museums, and storefronts all over the friendly town. Each Buffalo has its own design and own story to tell!
