National Random Acts of Kindness Day

A thank you note from someone you haven’t seen in 20 years, a stranger who offers to put your shopping cart away for you, a customer who smiles and compliments you as you hand her the fast-food bag; all of these are examples of random acts of kindness.

Many people offer random acts of kindness without even thinking about it while others struggle to come up with ideas or know where to start. Capstone Homes would like to remind everyone that February 17th is National Random Acts of Kindness Day and gives a challenge to be strategic about showing random acts of kindness.

Make a list of a variety of ideas and vow to do something each day from your list. Here are a few ideas to get you started and most are free!

• Smile at everyone you see today.
• Put someone’s shopping cart away for them.
• Happily allow cars to merge in front of you.
• Send a thank you note by email or regular mail to someone who will be surprised to hear from you.
• Tape a dollar bill to a vending machine.
• Compliment someone at work.
  
  

Still not convinced? Studies have shown that acts of kindness lower blood pressure, reduce pain, and cause a greater sense of well-being in those who show the act of kindness.

Oh and by the way, the person being shown the at of kindness also has a better day because of what you did for them. Be the reason that someone smiles and is inspired.

And remember, as Aesop said, ‘No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.’
