The Great Minnesota Get-Together

It’s Minnesota’s favorite time of the year! 

It’s that time of the year when Minnesotans love coming together and enjoying all the fun the State fair has to offer! From trying new foods to riding the fun rides or watching live entertainment, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! 

This year’s fair takes place from August 27th through Labor Day, September 7th. If you’re visiting the fair for the very first time, here’s a list of some fan favorites food to try, kid-friendly activities to checkout, and places to visit so you can experience the State Fair like a true Minnesotan! 


Fan-Favorites Foods:

  • Sweet Martha’s Cookies — Big buckets of warm chocolate-chip cookies. 
  • Pronto Pups — A classic Minnesota corn dog. 
  • Mouth Trap Cheese Curds — Very tasty cheese curds. 
  • Corn on the Cob — Buttery and delicious corn. 
  • Pickles — Pickle pizza, fried pickles, & pickle fries — just about anything pickled! 



New Foods:
There are 36 official new foods this year, here are some to check out! 

  • French Chouxnut Sundae —   A doughnut-style pastry topped with creamy ice cream at French Meadow Bakery. 
  • Surf ’N’ Turf Burger — A burger that combines meat and lobster at Café Caribe 
  • Apple Fries — Sweet crispy apple slices served up like fries at Minnesota’s Original Apple Fries. 
  • Dockside Poppers— A savory, bite-sized treat filled with season cream cheese, bacon, and artichoke hearts at Summer Lakes Boat House. 
  • Waffle cones with savory fillings — A waffle cone filled with either BBQ pulled pork, chicken tinga and rice, classic chicken salad, or three-cheese mac and cheese at Roon’s Savories. 



Places to See & Activities to Do:

  • Watch the parade that takes place during the 12-day fair at 2 p.m. 
  • Ride the Ferris wheel. 
  • Visit the barn animals at the Miracle of Birth Center. 
  • Ride the Sky Glider. 
  • Visit the butter sculptures at the Dairy Building.



Family-Friendly Activities: 

  • Ride the Kidway rides. 
  • Visit the Butterfly House. 
  • Ride the Giant Slide. 
  • Explore the Alphabet Forest and Math On-A-Stick at the Family Fair at Baldwin Park. 



Now that you know the fan favorites and new vendors, you can check a few things off your list when you visit the fair. What a fun way to enjoy the end of your summer with family and friends by experiencing “The Great Minnesota Get-Together!”
